How Many Days in Jeju Is Enough?
How many days in Jeju is enough? Three for most first visits: the east, the south and west, and Hallasan or a slow day. Two- and four-day plans, drive times and how a private day fits (October 2026).
Three days is enough for most first visits to Jeju: one for the east (Seongsan Ilchulbong, Seopjikoji or Udo, Manjanggul), one for the south and west (the waterfalls, Jusangjeolli, Osulloc, Hyeopjae), and one for Hallasan or a slower day; with two days, do the east and the south-west and leave the summit. The island is about 73 km from east to west, and the people who drive it for a living plan one region a day. Daltrip’s private tour with an English guide and a vehicle runs set east and west courses you can change, for up to seven people, from US$422 for the group (checked October 2026).

Why one side of the island a day
Jeju looks small on a map, but the sights sit around the coast with Hallasan in the middle, and Jeju City to Seogwipo across the island is roughly an hour by car. The operators all say the same thing in their own way: Jeju English Taxi Tour drives “the north and east or the south and west” each day; K ONE TOUR charges a ₩60,000 round-island fee if one day covers more than one area; KI TRIP recommends “an East tour, a West tour, or a South tour” rather than combining them. Five or six stops is a full day.

Day 1: the east
Start early at Seongsan Ilchulbong, the tuff cone crater on the east tip, a steep stair climb with the sea on three sides; adult tickets are ₩5,000, and it closes on the first Monday of each month. The haenyeo, Jeju’s women divers, often perform below it, and the Haenyeo Museum is a short drive north. Seopjikoji is the headland walk just south. Inland, Seongeup Folk Village keeps its thatched stone houses, and on the north side the Manjanggul lava tube reopened on 30 May 2026 after a rockfall closure, with about 1 km open to visitors. With more time, take the 10 to 15-minute ferry from Seongsan Port to Udo instead of the cave.
Day 2: the south and west
Around Seogwipo, Jeongbang and Cheonjiyeon falls are a few minutes apart. West along the coast are Jusangjeolli, the cliffs of hexagonal basalt columns, then Sanbangsan and the layered rocks of Yongmeori below it. Turn inland for the Osulloc tea fields and museum, and finish on the west coast at Hyeopjae Beach and Hallim Park, or the cafes of Aewol on the way back to Jeju City.
Day 3: Hallasan, or a slower day
Hallasan, about 1,950 m, is the summit of South Korea. The two trails to the top, Seongpanak and Gwaneumsa, need a reservation on the Hallasan National Park website, which opens about a month ahead and fills first in October and in late March and April. The shorter trails need none: LOVE KOREA’s South Jeju and Mt Halla day tour walks the Eoseungsaengak trail to a viewpoint. If hiking is not for you, give the third day to the beaches, the markets, or the side you liked best.
Two days, or four
Two days: the east, then the south and west; you will miss the summit and Udo. Four days: add the full day on Udo or the Hallasan summit, and a slow last morning in Jeju City before the airport, which is in town.
Jeju in a longer Korea trip
Jeju is about 1 hour 15 minutes by air from Gimpo, Seoul’s domestic airport, and many visitors fit it between Seoul and Busan. If your trip starts in Seoul, dmzinsidertour.com covers the DMZ tours from the city in depth: what each one visits, the passport rules and which days they run.
