Best Time to Visit Jeju

The best time to visit Jeju is April, for canola and cherry blossom, or October to November; the months to avoid are July and August. Weather, typhoons, holidays and what it means for a private tour.

Updated October 2026

The best months to visit Jeju are April, when canola fields and cherry blossom line the roads from late March to mid-April, and October to November, for clear autumn days and pink muhly grass; the months to avoid are July and August, the hottest and wettest, with typhoons possible from late June to early October. A private car helps most in the changeable months, because a driver can move your day to the drier side of the island. CORE TRAVEL’s customized private van tour runs 9 hours with an English-speaking guide, from US$400 for up to five people (checked October 2026).

Spring: canola and cherry blossom

From late March to mid-April, Jeju turns yellow: canola fields around Sanbangsan and Seongsan Ilchulbong, and cherry trees with canola beneath them along roads such as Noksan-ro. April is also one of the quieter months for visitors, with mild days and cool mornings, so bring a light jacket. It is the busiest time on Hallasan, though: the summit-trail reservations fill first in late March and April, so book that before the car.

Summer: heat, rain and typhoons

July and August are the months most guides tell you to avoid: hot, humid and wet, and the beaches are at their busiest. Typhoons can reach Jeju from the second half of June to early October. Every private tour on this site has free cancellation up to 24 hours before, which is your safety net, and Visit Korea Tour’s shore excursion taxi refunds in full if a cruise ship cannot dock because of the weather.

Autumn: the clearest days

From late September to mid-November, pink muhly grass fills fields such as Hueree Nature Life Park, which LOVE KOREA’s South Jeju day tour visits, and the autumn air is usually clear enough to see Hallasan from the coast. October is the other peak for Hallasan reservations. Check the holiday dates on your listing: LOVE KOREA adds ₩40,000 a day from 24 to 27 September and 1 to 11 October.

Winter: tangerines and snow on the mountain

Winter is quieter and colder, with snow on Hallasan and tangerine picking at the orchards; Lucas Travel’s South Jeju day tour offers an optional tangerine-picking stop in the winter season, paid on site. Days are short, so start at 9am, when most sights open.

When people plan it

Searches for a Jeju private tour from inside Korea peak in March, ahead of the canola season, according to Google’s Keyword Planner over the twelve months to September 2026. If you are travelling in April, book in March.
