"We had such a lovely time exploring Jeju Island with Hamee! My mom, sister, and I booked a private car tour because we wanted an English-speaking guide, and we’re so glad we got to spend the day with him. Hamee was really nice, patient, courteous, and accommodating throughout the whole trip. We had two places we wanted to visit and we let him choose the other places. He picked some really nice spots, and we enjoyed every place he took us to! What made the experience even better was how thoughtful he was. He helped us take pictures together as a family and pointed out the best spots for photos, so we could capture some lovely memories of our trip. He also shared information about the places we visited, which made the tour more enjoyable. Overall, we had a great experience with Hamee and really appreciated how welcoming and helpful he was. If you’re looking for a private tour with an English-speaking guide in Jeju, we definitely recommend him. Thank you, Hamee, for the enjoyable day."

How a Jeju Private Tour Works
Pick one side of the island, send your wish list, meet your driver at the hotel, and pay admissions as you go.
Pick One Side of the Island
The operator drives one route a day, the north and east or the south and west, because Jeju's sights are far apart. Most days cover five or six stops in 8 hours.
Send Your Wish List
Leave a WhatsApp number when you book and tell your guide-driver the places you want to see; they fill in the rest, including where to eat.
Pick-Up at Your Hotel
Pick-up and drop-off are included in Jeju City, within 20 km of Jeju Airport. Further away, a ₩30,000 charge applies. A 9am start suits the sights, most of which open at 9.
Pay Admissions as You Go
The fare covers the car, the guide-driver, fuel, insurance and parking. Entrance tickets and your meals are paid on the day; after 8 hours, each extra hour is ₩30,000.

The Guide
Which Jeju Private Tour to Book, and What Each One Gives You
Every private day is a car, a driver and one side of the island. What changes is who explains the sights, how many seats, and the extras.
A Jeju private tour is a car and a local driver or guide-driver for the whole day, usually 8 or 9 hours, going where you choose on one side of the island, and it is priced for the car rather than per person. Jeju is about 73 km from east to west, its sights are spread out, and buses between them are slow, so a private day is the easiest way to see the east, or the south and west, in one go. The tour this page puts first is Jeju English Taxi Tour’s private taxi tour with an English-speaking guide and driver: 8 hours in an air-conditioned car with a licensed guide-driver, fuel, insurance and parking included, for up to four people. It is from US$238 for the group (checked October 2026) and rated 5.0 out of 5 from 187 reviews; split four ways, that is about US$60 each.

What the day looks like
Your guide-driver picks you up at your hotel in Jeju City; pick-up is included within 20 km of Jeju Airport, and a ₩30,000 charge applies further out. You agree the stops before you set off, and the listing says most days take in five or six places in 8 hours. The operator drives one route a day, the north and east or the south and west, and suggests 9am to 5pm, because most sights open at 9. The fare covers the car, the guide-driver, fuel, insurance, parking and the driver’s own lunch; admissions and your meals are paid as you go, and each hour after the eighth is ₩30,000.
Guests this October name their guide-drivers, Choi, Hamee and Jay, and describe the small things a private day allows: help buying tickets, umbrellas when it started to rain, a local restaurant for hairtail fish, and vegetarian restaurants found for a couple who asked. Several booked two days, one for each side of the island.
Three kinds of private day
A guide-driver who explains the sights. Jeju English Taxi Tour above is one. LOVE KOREA’s private car charter with a licensed guide runs 9 hours for up to six, with six suggested routes you can change. For a small group that wants the UNESCO sites explained properly, daytours’ UNESCO Natural Heritage private tour has a nationally certified guide for up to three. Daltrip’s private tour with an English guide seats seven.
A driver and a car. K ONE TOUR’s private car charter is the most reviewed private day on Jeju, 9 hours for up to six with an English-speaking driver, fuel, tolls and parking; the Jeju private driver page covers it. KI TRIP’s customized car charter is a local driver who is not fluent in English, with the office helping by message.
Timed to a cruise ship. Visit Korea Tour’s shore excursion private taxi is sold only to cruise passengers, picks up at either terminal and refunds in full if the ship cannot dock; the cruise shore excursion page covers the port day.

What a private day costs, and what is extra
The private tours here cost US$238 to US$434 for the whole car, as listed on GetYourGuide in October 2026, and the difference is mostly seats and hours: four seats for 8 hours at the bottom, six or seven seats for 9 hours at the top. The extras are what to read before you book: ₩30,000 an hour of overtime, ₩30,000 to ₩70,000 for a pick-up outside Jeju City, a ₩60,000 round-island fee on K ONE TOUR if one day covers more than one area, and on LOVE KOREA a ₩40,000 holiday surcharge on listed dates. Admissions are never included on the private tours; Seongsan Ilchulbong is ₩5,000 for an adult. The cost guide sets every option side by side.
East, or south and west?
Pick one side for each day. The east has Seongsan Ilchulbong, the crater rising out of the sea, with the haenyeo divers’ show below it, Seopjikoji, Seongeup Folk Village, the Manjanggul lava tube and the ferry to Udo. The south and west have the waterfalls by Seogwipo, the basalt columns at Jusangjeolli, Sanbangsan, the Osulloc tea fields, and Hyeopjae Beach. Hallasan, the volcano in the middle, is a day of its own if you want the summit. The itinerary guide plans two, three and four days.

Before you book
Leave a WhatsApp number: every operator here confirms the pick-up time and the car that way, usually the day before. Free cancellation runs up to 24 hours before on all the private tours on this page. If Hallasan’s summit is on your list, the two summit trails need a reservation on the national park’s site, so book that before the car. And if your dates are open, spring and autumn are the easy seasons; the best time to visit guide goes month by month.

What Guests Say About the Private Taxi Tour
"Our guide was such a nice gentlemen who knew Jeju history well."
"We had Choi as our driver and he was the best. His driving was very skillful, safe and smooth. He answered all our questions we had and was very friendly. He helps you get all the tickets you need and makes sure that you are aware of any of the basic information of the places you visit. He is quick and prompt to pick you up when youre done. My friend and I were able to see all these beautiful places in Jeju thanks to Choi. I wish I had more time here because I wouldve done another day of these tours. I would 10000/10 recommend this tour for anyone wanting to see Jeju. and 10000/10 recommend Choi as the guide."
"Choi was extremely kind and attentive throughout our tour. Having been born and raised on Jeju Island, he knows the area incredibly well and shared his local knowledge with us. He is a humble, friendly, and approachable person who genuinely cares about making sure his guests have a great experience. English is not our first language, and we both speak with an accent, but that was never a problem. We were able to communicate very well and enjoy our conversations. It was a pleasure spending time with him. I highly recommend Choi to anyone visiting Jeju Island!"
"Our driver Choi was great! He was super friendly and answered all our questions. There is so much to see on Jeju and so much space between sites that I don’t know how else we could have maximized our day if not for our driver. He also recommended a delicious local restrauant for us to try hairtail fish and helped us order. We had a great experience and can’t wait to come back to Jeju."
"Choi did a fine job of giving us basic information about the island and the sites we visited. He was very thoughtful - he brought us umbrellas when it began to rain, was prompt and courteous, and was a good driver."
"We were three girls who had two great days with Jay on a tour around the island! We got to see many places, learned a lot of new things, and we got to have lunch with the locals. Jay was welcoming, informative, fun, and patient. We highly recommend this way of experiencing Jeju Island!"
"We spent two wonderful days with Choi. He was an efficient, warm and friendly driver and guide. He listened to our wishes and suggested improvements to our route. He even found us some excellent vegetarian restaurants. The pace was perfect, and we will have very fond memories of our stay in Jeju."

Jeju Private Tour FAQ
The questions people ask before hiring a driver or a private tour on Jeju, answered in the first sentence.
From US$238 for an 8-hour day for up to four with an English-speaking guide-driver, and US$287 to US$434 for 9-hour private charters for up to six or seven, on GetYourGuide in October 2026. Jeju English Taxi Tour is the cheapest with a licensed English-speaking guide; K ONE TOUR's charter seats six. Admissions and meals are extra. The cost guide lists every option.
Yes, if you have a paper International Driving Permit and are comfortable driving with a Korean map app; otherwise a private driver costs more but saves the planning, the parking and the driving. LOVE KOREA's private charter adds a licensed guide. See private driver or rental car.
Yes, with your home licence, a paper International Driving Permit (the A6 booklet under the 1949 Geneva or 1968 Vienna convention), your passport and a credit card in your name. Digital and plastic permits are refused, and the permit cannot be issued in Korea. Without one, book a driver such as K ONE TOUR's private car charter.
Yes: Uber, Kakao T and K.Ride all work on Jeju for single rides. For a full day of sightseeing, a private taxi tour such as Jeju English Taxi Tour's is booked by the day instead of by the meter.
The island is about 73 km from east to west, and Jeju City to Seogwipo across the middle is roughly an hour by car, so a full loop with stops takes more than a day. That is why drivers plan one region a day, and K ONE TOUR charges a ₩60,000 round-island fee if one day covers more than one area.
Three days for most first visits: the east, the south and west, and a day for Hallasan or the beaches; two days covers the east and the south-west. Daltrip's private tour runs set east and west courses. See the itinerary guide.
April, for canola and cherry blossom from late March to mid-April, and October to November for clear autumn days and pink muhly grass; July and August are the hottest and wettest. Typhoons are possible from late June to early October, and private tours such as CORE TRAVEL's van tour refund up to 24 hours before. See the best time to visit.
Seongsan Ilchulbong, the Geomunoreum lava tubes (seen at Manjanggul) and Hallasan, the three parts of Jeju's UNESCO World Heritage site, plus the waterfalls and basalt cliffs of the south coast. daytours' UNESCO private tour covers the first two with a certified guide. See what to see in Jeju.
Yes, with at least two days and a car, a driver or a tour: the crater, the lava tubes and the basalt coast are unlike anything on the mainland. Without a car, LOVE KOREA's South Jeju day tour is an easy first day. See is Jeju worth it?
On the tours sold with an English-speaking guide or driver, yes; on some charters the driver speaks little English and the office helps by message. Jeju English Taxi Tour and LOVE KOREA list licensed English-speaking guides; KI TRIP and Visit Korea Tour say their drivers may not be fluent.
No, on the private tours you pay admissions as you go; Seongsan Ilchulbong is ₩5,000 for an adult. The group day tour South Jeju and Mt Halla includes its admissions.
Yes: Visit Korea Tour's shore excursion taxi picks up at both terminals, Jeju Port and Gangjeong, and refunds in full if the ship cannot dock. Some charters charge extra for a port pick-up; see the shore excursion page.
Only for the two summit trails, Seongpanak and Gwaneumsa: book a slot on the Hallasan National Park website, which opens about a month ahead. The shorter trails need none; LOVE KOREA's south day tour walks the Eoseungsaengak trail.
Yes, and US citizens do not need a K-ETA for trips until 31 December 2026, when the current exemption ends. Check the rules for your passport before you book, then add a day such as Lucas Travel's East Jeju tour.
